Overwatch 2 Update brings big changes to 6 different characters

Blizzard released a new one guard 2 Update on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, along with patch notes revealing exactly what the update does. Notably, the update includes changes to six different characters, including some changes. More specifically, D.Va, Zarya, Junkrat, Genji, Sombra, and Kirkio players may notice that their characters play a little differently.

Blizzard went ahead and provided patch notes for the update, but went no further and provided no information on file size. In other words, we have no new information about how long this download may take or how much disk space you need to download.

Below you can see all the changes made to the characters above. In the meantime, the full patch notes can be found. here.

D.Va felt very deadly after the last round of changes as she can be very strong with her enhanced defense matrix.

  • Fusion Guns: Spread increased from 3.5 to 3.75
  • Booster: Impact damage reduced from 25 to 15
  • Call Mech – – Fixed in latest update – Final Call Mech cost reduced by 12%

Early player feedback predicted that Zarya would be one of the weaker solo tanks in 5v5, though her high damage potential and barrier availability proved extremely effective. For opponents, feedback has shown that this can make Zarya appear to have very limited windows of vulnerability, which when combined with her increased damage potential feels cumbersome.

These changes reduce the availability of the barrier, making it slightly harder to get energy and giving enemies more time to damage it.

  • Particle Barrier – Duration reduced from 2.5 seconds to 2 seconds – Cooldown increased from 10 seconds to 11 seconds
  • Projected Barrier – Duration reduced from 2.5 seconds to 2 seconds – Cooldown increased from 10 seconds to 11 seconds

Genji has benefited greatly from the move to 5v5. The switch to a single tank and reduced mob control removed many obstacles for Genji. However, it didn’t receive any tuning updates because it wasn’t active in the meta until launch, a conscious decision based on our general preference to avoid preemptive tuning whenever possible. These changes bring Genji more in line with the other flanking damage heroes like Tracer and Reaper.

  • Shuriken – Max ammo reduced from 30 to 24 – Damage reduced from 29 to 27

  • Steel Trap- Fixed in latest update- Arming time increased from 0.5 to 0.75 seconds- Fixed in latest update- Capture duration reduced from 3 to 2.5 seconds

With Shadow’s edit, he did a lot more damage to explain Hack’s reduced ability block duration. This proved very lethal to a flanker with easy access to enemy rear lines, especially in 5v5.

You also can’t direct the hack to an already hacked target, as feedback indicated that the reduced cooldown combined with the stealth hack was too frustrating for many players. It’s basically a cooldown per target, allowing Hack to keep its current 4 second cooldown to potentially hack multiple targets.

  • Hack- Reduced skill block duration from 1.75 to 1.5 seconds- Hacked enemies are no longer legal targets to hack during the 8 second effect- Damage multiplier of hacked enemies reduced from 40 to 25%

This window of invulnerability is mainly to avoid being killed instantly by something invisible after teleporting through walls, but it was too long and caused some confusion when shooting Kiriko.

  • Quick Stride: Reduced invulnerability duration from 0.4 seconds to 0.25 seconds.
