Last night, London hosted one of the most anticipated events of the year in the fashion world: i British Fashion Awards 2022, the so-called British Fashion Oscars held at the Royal Albert Hall. It was Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli who triumphed, awarded the title of Designer of the Year, while on the red carpet a true style challenge between stars unfolded, from Rita Ora with the nude dress to Irina Shayk with the low cost look. The particularity is that during the ceremony, not only were the winners of this edition of the event announced, but an exclusive fashion show was also held, during which Lila Moss walked with a maxi crown on her head.
The most influential British style icon of all time? Queen Elizabeth II. Thanks to the fact that the British Fashion Awards were held a few months after her death in one of the most beloved places of the Royal Family, the tribute to the late sovereign could not be missing during the awards ceremony. In the middle of the show, the stage was invaded by a parade of models, who walked with princely looks against the backdrop of a video that reproduced some iconic images of the Queen. Damask maxi dresses, floral prints, suits with bon-ton hats and a scarf tied around her head (as Elisabetta wore): the collection presented during the Fashion Salute Show reinterpreted some of the queen’s legendary looks in a modern tone.
Closing the show, Lila Moss, one of the candidates in the Model of the Year category (the title went to Bella Hadid), transformed herself into a modern queen for the occasion. Night blue velvet suit with pointy bustier and full miniskirt, all complemented by white knee-length stockings and wedge sneakers: the headdress made the difference, a maxi crown in fabric that recalls the precious thing worn by Elizabeth II during official ceremonies. In short, the Queen lives in the hearts of Britons, especially among fashion enthusiasts, who will never forget her colourful, rock and bon-ton looks.
