The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is a staple of The Walt Disney Company, but fans haven’t gotten another installment since 2017. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and while there’s been a lot of speculation about what the future holds for the series, producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently stated that he’s taking “baby steps” toward the next installment, which may see Johnny Depp return as Jack Sparrow. The filmmaker was right that the goal wasn’t necessarily to bring back Depp, but that progress seems to be being made toward a final script that will surely define what a new movie will explore.

In 2020, reports emerged that the series would be revived with a new film featuring more female characters, starring Margot Robbie. There were conflicting reports between Bruckheimer and Robbie about the status of this project.
Robbie announced in November vanity fair“We had an idea and we developed it a long time ago to have a more female-led story, not fully female-led, but just a different kind of story that we thought would be really cool. But I think they don’t.
In response to these comments, Bruckheimer recently announced colliders“I think the script will come out one day. We developed two different stories pirates and the other one comes first, so we’re working on that to try this one.”
