Rai 1 broadcasts this evening in prime time the film with Massimiliano Gallo and Vanessa Scalera taken from the famous Comedy by Eduardo De Filippo🇧🇷 The two main characters, the Filumena Marturanus it’s from Domingos Soriano, were played before them by many actors in the history of theater and TV. Unforgettable are the interpretations of Sophia Loren (with Marcello Matroianni in Casamento à Italiana), Titina De Filippo in the original, Pupella Maggio. The story takes place in Naples and was filmed in the historic center. In this version (directed by Francesco Amato) the protagonist’s house is located in Piazza del Gesù (just as a tribute to De Sica’s Italian marriage), while the wedding scene it is located in the Church of Santos Severino and Sóssio.

Piazza del Gesù, a choice named after De Sica

In Francesco Amato’s film, Filumena Marurano’s house was installed in piazza del Gesù, named after Vittorio De Sica’s masterpiece. It is indeed a symbolic place of his masterpiece. The square takes its name from the church of the same name and is located along the lower Decumanus: it is the square that Sophia Loren crosses, followed by the seamstress, to reach her Domenico and marry him. The scenography of the house in Piazza del Gesù is signed by Luigi Bisceglie: crystal chandeliers, wooden furniture, very high ceilings, as was the tradition in the palaces of the historic center of Naples in the 1950s.
