King Charles III bids farewell to the Queen’s favorite dish: he was banned from the Christmas feast

King Charles III intends to respect all the Christmas traditions handed down by Elizabeth II. The only revolution he will implement concerns the menu for the Christmas Eve feast: here is the dish that was banned (and that the Queen loved).

few hours left Christmas and everyone prepares to face family lunches and dinners in the best possible way. The Windsors are no exception to the rule and, between fully decorated buildings and scheduled institutional events, they are ready to kick off the holidays. This will be the first Christmas without the Queen Elizabeth II but King Charles III seems to have the intention of paying homage to her respecting the traditions transmitted by her, from the banquet on the eve until the public left for the mass on the 25th of December. The only detail that radically revolutionized? The Christmas dinner menu: that’s why he did it.

The Forbidden Dish at the Christmas Eve Feast

Queen Elizabeth II has always personally taken care of the dishes to be put on the table during family Christmas dinners, but now that King Charles has taken over, it looks like the menu is going to change drastically. At the Christmas Eve feast, one of the late sovereign’s favorite dishes, foie gras, or duck liver, was “banned.” The reason is very simple: it is not a form of rebellion against the former monarch, but rather a decision implemented to support environmental and animal welfare issues (to which Carlo has always been particularly attached). If possible, she plans to make the Windsors consume only local organic produce.

King Charles supports animal welfare

What few people know is that Carlo hasn’t eaten foie gras for several years: since 2008, the king has banned chefs at Clarence House from buying the dish, which he says was created and produced with “inhumane” methods. The sovereign’s choice also gained the support of the Peta association, which encouraged everyone to follow his example, leaving duck liver off the Christmas menu. In short, once again the new king showed that he has a soul of gold and that he is always attentive to the environmental issue, in the hope that the world around us can become better.
