Christian Slater reveals that he contacted Val Kilmer after getting the part

Last year, Val Kilmer reprized his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky Top gun: Maverick couldn’t do that with disney+ though Meadow Queue. The actor played the loony in the 1988 fantasy film of the same name, but after struggling with his health, filming the series during COVID was too risky and they eventually had to drop the actor from the show. However, the Madm-esque presence is felt throughout the series, and there are even a few new characters who have captured its spirit. One episode of the series even features an appearance by Christian Slater, who introduces himself as Madmartigan before revealing that he is actually Allagash, a character who fought alongside Madmartigan in the Battle of Land’s End. During a recent interview with The Hollywood ReporterSlater spoke of approaching Kilmer after getting the part.

“I did, yes,” Slater said when asked if he had spoken to Kilmer about it. Meadow. “Obviously he’s in a very difficult situation, but I just expressed my love for him. And I definitely let him know that Madmartigan’s spirit would be there for those eight episodes. It’s been great to be on set and to feel how valued and loved he is as an actor. So he was a big part of it, even though he couldn’t physically be there.”

Slater said of participating in the show, “I was a huge fan of the movie.
