Mareah will be the voice that will open Kany García’s concerts during her tour of Colombia. De Antioqueña, composer, vocal arranger, sound engineer, director, music producer and actress, will join the most important Puerto Rican artist on the 7 dates of her 2023 coffee country tour. “It’s what I’ve always dreamed of; to open not just a concert, but an entire tour, “said the singer”
Marina Restrepo Aguirre from Antioquia drew her first lyrics from the young age of four, writing a letter expressing her greatest wish: to become a singer.
He started working on it from a young age in music lessons after school. He took choir, piano, harmony and music theory lessons in Medellín, his hometown.
Since childhood she was associated with music by her family and now she shares the stage with the best artists of the moment.
In addition to being a singer, she was once also a singing director. It was featured in the main theme of the Oscar-winning Disney film ‘Charm’. An undoubtedly rewarding experience for any artist. That was his dream for a long time; to be part of a Disney project, especially if it was one that allowed him to honor his country.
She looks at music from different angles, having been an arranger, double graduated as sound engineer and music production, composer and chorister. Like many other dreams I had, I knew I would make them come true at some point. Because she has always been a person with great confidence in herself. In 2022, she was the winner of the John Lennon Award at The John Lennon Songwriting Contest, an event that has recognized composers from around the world since 2004.
In dialogue with EL HERALDO, Mareah detailed his history in music; from his beginnings with his grandmother, the composer Sonia Martínez to his childhood surrounded by music, which was the link to reach different productions and stages such as Estadio Atanasio Girardot, El Campín, Movistar Arena, Estéreo Picnic, Rock al parque and the team Coldplay’s opening act in 2016. He participated in projects with nominated groups and entities and Grammy Anglo and Latin Grammy winners such as Cantoalegre, Piso 21, Marc Anthony, among others.
Before the start of the tour today, May 4, at the Prado hotel in Barranquilla, he said: “I am happy because I will feel the happiness of the people of Barranquilla and their way of being. It has always attracted me, it is a fusion of culture that is unparalleled in all of Colombia. Barranquilla is a constant party and we are just about to open the celebration of Kany’s tour,” Mareah assured.
