The album It features original and unreleased songs and was created by Juan Gabriel before his death in 2016. according to information provided by the record company. It shows the enormous love that Juan Gabriel had for the cities of his native Mexico.
The production follows the previously released single, “Mexico is everything”, dedicated to his native country, its culture, its customs and modernity. Therefore, it is written with two X’s, which emphasizes a Mexico of the 21st century (ME XXI CO).
The album was recorded in Cancún and San Carlos, Mexico from 2014 to 2016 and was produced by Rodrigo Cárdenas.. It started as a project for which Juan Gabriel would sing for the people where he presented his concerts, a song about that city. When 11 songs were finished, Juan Gabriel decided he had to turn it into an album, so he wrote 11 more songs for a total of 22 previously unreleased works, dedicated to his favorite cities in Mexico.
All vocals were recorded with Juan Gabriel while he was still alive and by May 2016 the 22 songs had already been recorded as demos with his approved arrangements and vocals. The final album contains 24 songs because there are 2 versions of it “Mexico is everything” (short version and extended version) and there are 2 versions of it “The Mere” (Juan Gabriel version and Juan Gabriel version ft. Los Tucanes de Tijuana).
