AMPTP Studios was reportedly prepared to move forward with negotiations on a SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike by 2024 if an agreement isn’t reached this week. The actors’ strike has been going on for 104 days, as Hollywood actors fight for fair wages, remaining streaming rights and regulation of artificial intelligence, among other things. Although negotiations between the studios and the actors collapsed earlier this month, new negotiations have begun since October 24.
Now, The coat reports that the studios are willing to postpone negotiations with SAG-AFTRA until January 2024 if an agreement cannot be reached with the actors’ guild by the end of this week. The possible decision is influenced by the fact that new productions without an early agreement cannot start until 2024. For this reason, the studios could move forward with negotiations since production would be stalled anyway.
