Tom Taylor, author of Titans and the next miniseries Titans: World of Beastsrevealed a sneak peek of his and Ivan Reis’ epic event in X. Taylor’s appearance gave fans a glimpse of some strange and disturbing images, including Beast Boy’s transformation into a giant monster, similar to Starro the Conqueror.
Taylor ended her preview of the event by sharing the cover of Reis Titans: World of Beasts #5. The cover introduces the disturbing new villain Doctor Hate, Amanda Waller’s new recruit in her mission to wipe out DC’s metahumans. Hate is surrounded by a legion of hybrid animals as the Nightmare Stone glows around his neck.
Doctor Hate returns to take advantage of the chaos in Beast World
Amanda Waller has been on the warpath to destroy DC’s metahumans ever since the enigmatic Council of Light gave her the green light. She recovered a strange relic from the island of Lazarus known as the Helmet of Hate, and after the events of The Knight’s Fear, Waller finally received an equally powerful treasure, the Nightmare Stone. Along with the two powerful items, he donated them to an unknown group, making them Waller’s final and exclusive gift. The most powerful weapon yet: Doctor Hate. Amanda Waller’s first hate crime? Defeat the DC Universe’s new superhero team, the Titans.
Amanda Waller wanted to eliminate the Titans since they replaced the Justice League. While Doctor Hate’s full power has yet to be revealed, fans have already gotten an idea of what his Nightmare Stone was capable of. The Knight’s Fear. In the hands of Insomnia, the Nightmare Stone can make dreams and nightmares come true. Just when Insomnia was hoping to turn the rest of the world against the Justice League, Amanda Waller wants to turn the world against the Titans and now might be the best time to do it. Not only does he have Doctor Hate at his disposal, but Beast Boy is also about to turn humanity upside down in “World of Beasts.”
Doctor Hate and Amanda Waller will make the world afraid of the Titans
Amanda Waller doesn’t have to work very hard to turn the people of Earth against the Titans. The world will already be in a chaotic state after Beast Boy created a world full of hybrid animals thanks to his Starro form. All Doctor Hate has to do for Waller is play on people’s fears and anxieties, just like Insomnia did during its crusade against the Justice League. Once humans discover that Beast Boy is responsible for the wave of hybrids, Waller will be able to use the Titans’ distrust to further his own plans. The exact role Waller has in mind for Doctor Hate is unknown, but she will certainly be happy to use him to defeat the Titans.
