Melissa Barrera is fired from Scream 7 for comments in favor of Palestine

The conflict between Israel and Palestine continues to have consequences, not only at the political level, but also in various sectors. Such is the case of Mexican actress Melissa Barrera who was fired by the production company Spyglass from the film Scream 7 for comments they deemed “anti-Semitic.”

Through various publications on her Instagram account, the actress has shown her position in favor of Palestine.

Less than a month ago, Barrera had published on his Instagram account: “I am also from a colonized country” with the logo of the Mexican flag. “Palestine WILL be free,” he continued with an italicized quote: “They tried to bury us, but “They didn’t know we were seeds.”

Given this situation, Spyglass is said to have made the decision to reprise his role of Sam Carpenter in the film.

“Spyglass’ position is clear and unequivocal: we will not tolerate anti-Semitism or hate speech in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, distortion of the Holocaust, or anything else that blatantly crosses the line into hate speech. ” a statement published by Deadline magazine.

However, the producer did not comment on the Mexican’s dismissal or what the cast of the seventh part of the film would be.

According to what had emerged, the director would be Christopher Landon, who spoke in his X account about the departure of the actress: “This is my statement: everything is terrible. Stop shouting. “This was not my decision.”
