Who is Carin León and the other Mexican artists that are trending

On social networks, opinions are divided about the winner of the Yo me llama 2023 edition, as many expected it to be the Shakira impersonator, who was even praised several times by the real artist.

However, the viewers voted and decided that Juan Carlos Parra, impersonating Carin León, would take the prize and win 500 million pesos, plus $32 million he earned during the competition.

And apart from the fact that the winner was ‘Carin León’, the truth is that this Mexican artist has become a phenomenon in several Latin American countries and also in the United States, where the Spanish-speaking community was his main audience.

In Colombia, for example, regional Mexican music was a success not only for Carín León, but also for other singers who represent the roots of musical trends such as corridos, banda music, rancheras, etc.

Born in Sonora (Mexico), Carin adapts the regional Mexican genre to his own style, combining the traditional with rancheras and artists from other genres, such as Pablo Alborán or Maluma.

In Bogotá he was a success performing his repertoire of 39 songs, including consolidated hits such as “La Justiciera”, “Que Vuelvas”, “El Tóxico” and “Dame un Beso”, in addition to his most recent musical achievements such as “Ni Me You Should Nor I Owe You” and “First Date.”

The audience made the artist feel at home and the Mexican did not miss the opportunity to sing lagenato and confirm how much he loves Colombia, which generated more “roar” from those present.

Carín León has become popular on the music scene with her signature style, which combines the tradition of regional Mexican music with modern touches. Initially notable as a member of the group Los Plebes del Rancho, he later embarked on a solo career and established himself as a successful artist in the genre.

Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, known as Peso Pluma, for his part, is a 24-year-old artist who has collaborated with several world-class artists and released hits that have quickly become the most listened to song in several countries. One of the hits was “She dances alone”, which has hundreds of millions of views on various platforms.

It has also sold more than 250 million copies in the United States. This song, written by Mexican-American Pedro Julián Tovar, meant an international breakthrough for Peso Pluima and even performed the song on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show.

The artist was one of the personalities who topped the search results in Spanish on Google in the United States. As announced by the tech giant, the song that set the most trends this year song-wise was La Sessions, Vol. 53 by Shakira with Bizarrap, which was released on January 11 and has a YouTube account – which is part of Google – with more than 650 million views.

While in second, third, fourth and fifth places are songs in which the Mexican artist Peso Pluma participated: La people, AMG, El Azul and PRC, respectively.

Featherweight also tops other lists, such as “Where…?”, as the first question is “Where is Featherweight from?”, followed by “Where did the Titanic sink?” and “Where can you watch the world baseball classic?”

As well as the “Who?” category, where the first question is “Who is Featherweight’s father?”, followed by “Who is Lele Pons?” and “Who’s playing in the Gold Cup today?”

The Mexican artist also appears in the Google search trend with the question “What is…?”, but in fourth place, with the question “What is Featherweight?”, behind “What is implosion?” -probably to understand the Titan submarine implosion in June-: “What is Oxycontin?” and “What is sapiosexual?”
