Talosians have a long history Star Trek History
They are Talosians, one of the first alien races ever seen on Earth. Star TrekThey are also among the most powerful. Their world was destroyed by nuclear war centuries ago and the survivors retreated underground. There they developed fantastic mental powers that allowed them to create very realistic illusions. The encounter shocked Starfleet so much that the planet was quarantined and anyone who visited it was threatened with the death penalty.
Now, Star Trek: Challenging Issue 10 shows that Starfleet has changed the dynamic with the Talosians. Throughout the issue, readers are given the impression that the Talosians deeply regret what happened to Captain Pike, but Starfleet has captured them in their own world. Living a century after first contact, Worf and Talosian society simply want to leave their world and explore the galaxy as Starfleet. Worf initially thinks it’s a bad idea, but recovers. Worf realizes that what Starfleet has done to the Talosians is morally wrong and takes steps to correct it.
“Their invader outnumbered our ship by a factor of three”: Star Trek’s new armada is the Borg’s overwhelming counterpart
Star Trek #13 begins a new story pitting Captain Sisko and the crew of the Theseus against the mighty adversaries of the Borg.
Will the Talosians declare war on the Federation?
However, Worf may have unleashed a new threat to humanity Star Trek Universe. Previously, the Talosians were confined to their homeworld and showed no interest in leaving. This made it easier for Starfleet to quarantine the planet, but over the past hundred years the Talosians have had time to think, reflect and grow. Starfleet, on the other hand, continued to do the same, which led to resentment. After a group escapes, Starfleet worries about the consequences. A race of powerful telepaths and illusionists roaming the galaxy is a frightening prospect, and Starfleet will no doubt take precautions to draw them out.
