Like Shakira: they’re going to erect a statue of J Balvin in Medellín

The statue erected to Shakira on the Malecón del Río in Barranquilla caused a sensation around the world and no less a great Colombian artist with a long career and countless awards behind her, she deserved no less.

“This is too much for my little heart,” reads one publication’s description on his Instagram account. At the same time, she left evidence of her pride in seeing her parents witness the moment her monument was unveiled.

Likewise, he emphasized that Barranquilla will always be his home. “I feel deeply honored by this recognition from my hometown. The fact that they wanted to immortalize me in bronze is a gesture that I will always carry in my heart. Barranquilla is and will always be my home, it is the land where I was born and where my artistic dreams were born,” he said.

But not only will this artist get her statue, the city of Medellín will do the same with one of her illustrious sons such as the urban music artist J Balvin.

What is known so far is that the artist’s monument will be erected in Lleras Park during the month of March as part of a strategy by the capital of Antioquia to showcase Medellin musicians in the so-called ‘Talent Route’ .

José Alexander Sánchez, one of the leaders of the initiative, assured the newspaper El Colombiano that the ‘Talent Route’ “is a gift for the city. “This will be a great city event, it will be something very beautiful.”
