The film ‘Passion of Christ’which premiered in 2004, directed by Mel Gibson, is undoubtedly one of the most watched Easter. The way in which the agony that Jesus experienced is shown, the rawness of the images and their reality, set a precedent in cinema.

The production, a product of the same extreme manner in which it was shot and recorded, drew thousands of criticisms of the director and producers. However, little is said about what the actors went through or had to do to make the film happen.
Jim Caviezel, For example, he was the one who played Jesus. He suffered so many hardships that some time later he admitted that he almost died during filming. He made a list of everything he had to go through, starting with the fact that one of the whippings was real.
Moreover, Caviezel was wearing the cross, it was not a double. In fact, it was so heavy and he carried it for so long that he dislocated his shoulder while filming that particular scene.
As if that wasn’t enough, the actor said that while the sermon was being delivered, lightning struck near where the actors were gathered. He said at the time that the film was shot in Italy, on location around the towns of Craco and Matera, where the weather was almost always bad, but the work never stopped.
For all this, Cavaziel had suffered a lung infection as a result of pneumonia which later led to him undergoing two operations, one of which was open-heart surgery.
The worst part is that Cavaziel seems willing to do more. Well, the filming of the second part of ‘The Passion of the Christ’ has recently been announced. According to Gibson, he will try to approach the story through everything that surrounds the return to the life of Jesus. That is, what happened before he left the tomb, and during his reunion with the disciples.
Randall Wallace, nominated for an Oscar for writing the script for Corazón Valiente, will join as screenwriter. And the main character will be… Yes, Jim Caviezel again.
