BTS’ Suga publicly apologized for drunk driving

I feel overwhelmed and ask apologies because I disappoint you,’ the singer, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, wrote to fans on the social network weavers.

The 31-year-old artist was found by a police officer lying on the ground next to an electric scooter in a street in the neighborhood Yongsanin Seoulwhere the members of BTS live.

Suga claimed that he attended a dinner where he drank alcohol and decided to return home on a scooter.

“I violated traffic regulations, carelessly assuming that the journey was short and not realizing that it is forbidden to ride an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol,” the message explains.

Suga was questioned and booked at a police station in Yongsan and charged with violating South Korea’s traffic law. His driver’s license was revoked in turn because his blood alcohol level was higher than 0.08% after blowing into a breathalyzer.

Driving in South Korea with such a blood alcohol level can result in a prison sentence of up to two years or a fine of up to 10 million won (about $7,275).

Suga is currently collecting his social security replacement benefits, as he was exempted from military service, which is mandatory for all able-bodied men in South Korea, due to a shoulder injury.

He plans to complete his military service in June next year and then return to the stage, like his fellow band members, most of whom are currently serving in the military.
