After the snake, expedition members now eat an exotic animal

On the eighteenth day, which is so close to the final, nobody wants to go home. “I slept well, but I noticed adrenaline rushing through my body,” Ferry said. Dominique is now safe on Winners Island. “I kicked him for the second time, I couldn’t have imagined that before,” he said enthusiastically, despite the lack of food. There is nothing left on the other island, so Niels decides to catch a lizard to fill his stomach. “Niels is on the island, so the kitchen is different”, says Sebastiaan with a laugh. This isn’t the first time competitors have increased their sense of taste. Last season the participants feasted on the snake again. “I always try, wherever I come from: is it moving? Can I put it in my mouth? Yes, you must be hungry”, says Niels, who thinks it tastes like chicken.

Thanks to Niels, the candidates leave “with a full stomach” for the semi-final of two rounds. The winner of the first test goes directly to the final, the losers play against each other again. The winner is the third and last runner. Niels is the first person to win the ‘ruthless’, ‘hard’ test. “It is already an important step for me to go further than my previous expedition. I’m very happy,” he says afterwards. Ferry third contestant: “This feeling is so good because you fought so hard and I just made it: I’m in the final! And tomorrow I can meet Niels and Dominique, it’s a real party for me.” I will give everything!”
