Videoland has slightly more subscribers in Q1

The number of paying subscribers to Videoland of media company RTL amounted to more than 1.1 million in the first quarter of the year. This is a slight increase compared to the same period last year. RTL Nederland’s streaming service had over a million subscribers at that time.

reality series island of temptation and a person and detective series mocro mafia Videoland contributed to the increase in the number of subscribers. However, compared to the past two years, growth appears to be stabilizing somewhat.

RTL Group achieved a turnover of approximately 1.6 billion euros, partly thanks to higher income from streaming services in the Netherlands and Germany. That is 11% more on an annual basis. The group also made more money selling television advertising, especially in the Netherlands. Streaming services will form the backbone of RTL’s growth strategy in the coming years.

The company reported no profit for the last quarter. The company maintains, among other things, a profit forecast of 1.15 billion euros before tax in 2022.

RTL-Talpa Network merger projects

The company made no further statements about the proposed merger between RTL Nederland and Talpa Network, which was announced last year. During the presentation of the annual results at the beginning of the year, the group indicated that the operation still had to be approved by the competition authorities. RTL expects this to be ready in the third quarter of 2022.

At the end of January, the Dutch regulator ACM announced that it would conduct a thorough investigation into the merger plans of the two media companies. The results of the collaboration for advertisers, television producers, distributors of television channels and consumers are being examined.
