Anna Knaup is the winner of this year’s Golden Harp. It took part in the early years of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), which has grown internationally into the largest club festival with more than 300,000 visitors a year.
Frank Helmink of Buma Cultuur says that the Golden Harp was awarded to Knaup because of his “very important and facilitating role in the development and professionalization of Dutch dance music”.
“Anna was way ahead of her time in 1996. He started ADE with almost nothing. Dance is the most successful music export product in the Netherlands to date and Anna undoubtedly plays an important role in this.”
Knaup will receive the prize during the Buma Awards on May 16 in the Spant Theater! in Bussum. Hardwell presents the award. He is one of the producers and DJs that Knaup currently represents with his own agency. Knaup also represents Afrojack and Kriss Kross Amsterdam.
The Buma Awards are prizes awarded to the most successful composers, songwriters and music publishers behind last year’s hits. In addition, many jury prizes are awarded every year. For example, the Lennaert Nijgh Prize goes to the best lyricist and the Lifetime Achievement Award goes to a composer who has performed exceptionally and for a long time.
