In the interview, Thomas says he struggles to “be 100% for someone now.” “I don’t dare to jump because I don’t want to feel the pressure he has to succeed. I consciously slow myself down. I think you should get to know each other well first.”
Thomas says he’s suddenly gotten a lot more attention since his adventure on The Bachelor. He also tries to protect his girlfriend Merel. “He has a lot to endure. A negative message always takes much longer than a positive message. I know: you are in the news today, a hot item, but tomorrow you will forget it.”
Thomas sometimes even gives him media training. “He recently interviewed for the first time. Then we practice. Very good at responding to political correctness. Better than me.”
