The new album features two Spanish-Dutch songs and one purely Dutch song. However, the singer hopes to achieve international success again soon.
“My first number 1 in the United States was in the bachata genre. The thirteenth track on the album is deliberately such a song. My goal is always to return to Latin America and try again there.” Nevertheless, he is currently very grateful for his success in the Netherlands, where his base is located.
According to Sanchez, recognizable Spanish words are the secret to success in Dutch in Spanish. “Easy words even for those who don’t speak Spanish. miserable or ‘mano came‘ in kuduro dance† Frankly, I realize this myself. Name of a song from my album locomotivebecause most Dutch people know what that means.”
“In memory of my father”
The singer had already announced her album last year, but the release date has been postponed several times. “Every time I thought the album was done, I kept saying the album was coming. But while listening to the album, I missed one more song. Since it’s my first album, I want people to know who I am and where I am. It comes both musically and privately.”
That’s why he wrote the song which was for his father. “A tribute to someone who has always supported me through good and bad times. It has always given me the impetus to keep going.”
The singer sometimes suspected that this job was something for him. “I called my father once when I was still living in Miami and had no success in the United States. I told him I didn’t think it was for me. He then boarded the plane to meet me in person. Look at his face and say, “Keep going, because one day you’re going to laugh out loud. I’ve always laughed a lot too,” jokes Sanchez. “I never forgot this phrase and included it in the song.”
His family is very important to the singer. “My brother is my tour manager and my father is always there when something happens. My mother is my biggest fan, she films every performance and puts everything on Facebook. Sometimes I have to say, ‘Mom, take it off, because in part. part went wrong.” His mother also helps with financial matters. “Actually, it’s kind of a family business.”
Music suitable for TikTok dances
Because Sanchez was not allowed to perform in times of Corona, he decided to take advantage of the success of the mega-popular platform TikTok. “At the time, I just wanted to make music where I could dance TikTok.”
Now the singer cares a little less about it. “But of course I mainly do dance music, so if a song is accompanied by a good dance, it’s just a bonus.”
Collaboration with Ronnie Flex
There are two collaborations on the album: manana Bilal Wahib and unbelievable With Kris Kross Amsterdam. The wish list of other artists Sanchez wants to collaborate with is long. “I think Ronnie Flex is one of the coolest artists in the Netherlands. I’ve talked to him and I know he’s very eager to work with him, I hope that happens soon.”
On De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE, Sanchez sang a duet with Davina Michelle. “God, a song together would be great. A kind of power ballad in Spanish and English. A collaboration with Danny Vera also sounds very cool.”
“And yes, I am also very good friends with Kraantje Pappie, he has become one of my best friends. This man has been our best for ten years, I admire his talent and perseverance. It’s something magical that can happen when we go into the studio.”
