BBC arranges private secretary to Princess Diana for interview in 1995

Patrick Jephson, Princess Diana’s former private secretary, reached an agreement with the BBC over a television interview he had with the princess in 1995. The British public broadcaster has apologized and is paying a ‘significant amount’ in compensation, according to British media.

An independent investigation last year revealed that the BBC had concealed that the interview with Diana had been orchestrated by giving false information. The BBC admits the situation has caused “serious damage” to Jephson and has therefore reached a settlement with him. Jephson will donate a portion of the settlement to charities.

The controversial interview made headlines again last year. Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, claimed he lied to gain the trust of journalist Martin Bashir and put him in front of BBC cameras. Panorama about to get.

During the conversation, Diana spoke at length about her troubled marriage to Queen Elizabeth’s son and heir, Prince Charles. The British police also investigated the course of events themselves, but could not find any crime.

Jephson told British media he was relieved to finally be able to close “this painful chapter”.
