Dutch celebrities saddened by the death of meteorologist Piet Paulusma

‘Oh dear. Piet Paulusma passed away. Better get rid of it. He is a very good man. Last week on radio/tv. Now Pete is gone. Never ‘moan’ again, writes Radio DJ Coen Swijnenberg. “Oant Moarn, Pete!” by comedian Jochem Myjer.

Radio DJ Jeroen Kijk of De Vegte looks back on the radio programs where he regularly spoke with Paulusma in bad weather. “I have always admired his perseverance and work ethic. There is so much strength for his friends and family…” wrote Maurice Wijnen, who described Piet as “the most hardworking and always kind meteorologist.”

The Frisian Sipke Jan Bousema says he will miss Paulusma very much. “An iconic and trusted meteorologist who was always there and involved. út Fryslân, the most famous meteorologist in the Netherlands. The day started sunny and ended rainy and gray… Piet is a big tank for everything!

Omrop Fryslân, who started Paulusma in 1985 and has been dealing with the weather ever since, says that the publishing house and the state of Friesland have lost ‘an icon’. ‘Spoken language’ ‘We mourn mourn mar werris yn it Waar sjen’ will no longer be heard. It was a constant value for Omrop, who was always there for us. But above all, he was a very pleasant colleague to work with,” says editor Sybren Terpstra.
