The director justly reacted to a question from the journalist from L’Espresso, explaining that he would not answer his question:

Sorry, but I want to take certain liberties, I don’t want to have relationships with you for life, your newspaper was right to send someone else.

The Lord of the Ants in Venice

However, it cannot be said that Gianni Amelio is dissatisfied with the reception of his film in Venice. The Lord of the ants tells what is remembered by the chronicles as the Braibanti case, a lawsuit that involved the playwright and poet Aldo Braibanti, who was tried for plagiarism, that is, for having subjected to his will, in a physical and psychological sense, one of his younger students and friends. A story that had enormous repercussions at the time and shocked public opinion, ending with a sentence of 9 years in prison, later reduced to 6, of which two spent in prison by the intellectual, played in this film by Luigi Lo Cascio.
