After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the debate in Italy ignites over a comment by Alessandro Gassmann, not too happy for Vittorio Sgarbi. The actor tweeted the monarch’s death, pointing out the fact as something that has nothing special. The idea, for Vittorio Sgarbi, is disrespectful: “To respect Elizabeth you don’t have to be a royalist.” Then he attacks: “Talk about a ‘young’ phenomenon, famous only for being the son of a man who was a great actor as well as a lovely ‘old gentleman’.”

In a tweet, Alessandro Gassmann wrote: “An elderly lady I liked died today, she led a beautiful and responsible life, living in castles and sometimes traveling by carriage. I regret her death, as I regret the death of anyone.” For this tweet, Alessandro Gassmann was criticized (and even offended) on social networks. Shortly after, by the way, he posted on the screen an offensive comment against him.

In his own way, Vittorio Sgarbi responded harshly to Alessandro Gassmann’s tweet pointing to the pivotal figure in history that was Queen Elizabeth II. In his words, Vittorio Sgarbi underlined the qualities of the monarch who reigned for 70 years:
