The shooting of Giorgia Meloni across the left-wing media galaxy began months ago, but following the center-right’s victory in the elections has reached levels never seen before. There are also those who put together a story ripped from the Spanish press and involving the father of the FdI leader, who, as she said, left the family as a child. This is the case of Palestinian journalist with Israeli and Italian citizenship, Rula Jebreal, who relaunched a piece of the Republic on social media: “Father of Giorgia Meloni convicted of drug trafficking”.
“During his election campaign, Giorgia Meloni, the new Italian prime minister, promoted a rape video in which it is claimed that asylum seekers are criminals who want to replace white Christians. Ironically, Meloni’s father is a notorious drug lord. served time in prison”, writes Jebreal, echoing in a few lines a surprising series of inaccuracies. For example, Meloni is not yet prime minister. And so, if the journalist refers to the Piacenza video, it is not clear when the FdI leader expressed the concepts attributed to her.
Meloni herself intervenes on social networks by re-launching Rula Jebreal’s post and commenting on the choice of newspapers that re-released the news about her father. “The tact of the Italian press that talks about my father’s problems but omits a key element in its bombastic headlines. Everyone knows my father left when I was just over a year old. Everyone knows I chose not to see him again. at eleven years old. Everyone knows I never had contact with him again until his death”, explains Meloni, ‘. many things that do not apply to me there is also the saying ‘the sins of the fathers do not fall on the children’.” At the end, a postscript dedicated to “Mrs. Jebreal, I hope you can explain to the judge when and where I would have made the statement you attribute to me.”
