Long-term strategy against the crisis and no bonus: the recipe delivered to Meloni

To face the crisis generated by inflation and bills, the new government must abandon the bonus policy in favor of structural measures capable of reducing prices and tariffs in the long term. The position taken on the economic emergency belongs to Codacons, which in a note addresses the center-right and Giorgia Meloni: the problem of high prices or reducing electricity and gas tariffs. The experience of the last few years has indisputably demonstrated the failure of the bonus rain policy, which has not resolved the critical issues of today, only ending up weighing on public pockets and stealing community resources, with very heavy effects on our economy.”

In order to face the emergence of bills and prices, the only way forward, says the consumer association, “is that of interventions and structural measures capable of calming tariffs in the long term and reducing costs for families and companies”, starting with cut taxes on fuel and energy products for the full year 2023, eliminating VAT on food and basic necessities and blocking electricity and gas prices, calling on supervisors to ensure that tax cuts are passed on to end consumers”.
