Mario Draghi on the G7: unity is needed against expensive energy

Prime Minister Mario Draghi took the floor during the G7 meeting via videoconference. It does this to urge other countries to take steps that can bring down the price of energy as quickly as possible. To achieve the goal, however, it is necessary to find unity in Europe. “We managed to diversify our energy sources and become increasingly independent from Russian gas. However, energy prices are still very high, it is a problem that we must face together.” So Prime Minister Mario Draghi during the videoconference meeting of G7 leaders, during which Ukrainian President Zelensky also spoke.

Mario Draghi spoke explicitly of the war in Ukraine and asked that any possible agreement be reached with the approval of the Kiev government. «Our objective must be peace, but a peace that is just and desired by Ukraine – reiterated Draghi – We strongly condemn the bombing of civilians and civilian infrastructure by Russia. These bombings must lead us to support Ukraine with the same determination we have had until now.”
