“It’s not the first time I’ve come to the Chamber, but the importance of the position gives it an emotion equal to the one I had when investigating the Red Brigades”. This is the reaction of Carlo Nordio, entering Sala Mappamondo in the Chamber for registration after the election as a deputy in the new legislature. “That – adds Nordio – was the best experience I had in my field, and this is the best experience in another sector”.
Nordio, in the race for the position of Minister of Justice, does not hesitate to disclose the plans he would implement in case of appointment: “The first act you would do if you were appointed Minister of Justice? Speed up civil and criminal trials as much as possible because justice, at this time, is also an economic fact and in a phase of great financial and economic crisis this can have a positive and immediate effect. In my opinion, other reforms of the penal codes should be made, but later – concludes the former magistrate Nordio – because at the moment the economic impact is the most urgent. And this can be done precisely by streamlining criminal and civil justice.”
