A lot of dust under the rug of a Roman Democratic Party that came out with broken bones from the September 25 elections. That 21.7% obtained in the capital led by Roberto Gualtieri – with almost ten points behind Giorgia Meloni’s party – represents a unease too deep to be not only underestimated, but even ignored. The measure lies in the “historic” defeats of two greats such as Monica Cirinnà and Patrizia Prestipino and in the “pro tempore” Roman secretary (but in office for almost two years), Andrea Casu, elected to the Chamber by the broken headset. A malaise that directly affects the Capitol, thanks to the Region heading to the vote, a change of pace not yet visible (yesterday’s report from the Capitol that unreservedly rejects the refusal situation) and a council-council relationship that has not yet withdrawn. All this with decisive challenges on the horizon for the future, not only political, of the capital, namely the projects for the Pnrr funds, Jubilee 2025 and the concrete possibility of hosting Expo 2030.
In addition to the denials, the Monday meeting of three Commission presidents, Antonio Stampete (Public Works), Yuri Trombetti (Housing Policies) and Carla Fermariello (School) and two councilors, Antonela Melito and Cristina Michetelli, as explained by the same dem Stampete “was only the first of other meetings because I believe it is appropriate to discuss the September 25 defeat, but above all about the government’s action in Rome.” No request for reorganization, but a verification, the “official” version. in politics, a denial often equals a confirmation. “We reiterate our greatest and full support for Mayor Gualtieri and the council – declared the leader of the Pd group in Campidoglio Valeria Baglio in a note released on Tuesday night -. We are even more determined and compact to continue and complete the work in the service of the city for which we were elected. No verification was requested or any request for relocation made at the last meeting of the councilors with the mayor”.
One note, however, is that of Baglio who very well remembers the one on September 26, commenting on the electoral result, in which, while acknowledging the victory of the center-right – it was underlined “a growing Pd that goes from 16.4% for municipal to 21.7%; encouraging results that demonstrate the generosity and support of the city to this Administration and to Mayor Gualtieri as administrator and politician.” The declaration was first signed by the Councilors of Pd Campidoglio and then, identical, signed only by the leader of the group. Baglio.
