An eternal cyclic sequence. In which time represents a movement through which one returns, with slightly modified dynamics, to the starting point. A fascinating theory, which in politics seems to find more confirmation these days. After ten years, Florence is again the laboratory to start a national climb. The mayor is convinced of this Dario Nardella who, on Sunday night, during the presentation of his book “The Universal City”, will launch his candidacy for secretary of the Democratic Party. A dispute, which will make him oppose the current governor of Emilia Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini, considered the big favorite in this race to succeed Enrico Letta. The team of the first citizen of the Tuscan capital has repeatedly, forcefully, denied this reconstruction, but in the city, in Palazzo Vecchio, no one believes this denial. Which has the flavor, as Indro Montanelli reiterated, of double confirmation.
On the other side of the fence, Matteo Renzi continues to play his favorite sport: attacking the Democratic Party. An authentic mission, that of the native of Rignano, carried out through fierce criticism, jokes with poison, but also concrete actions. Last Saturday, councilor Barbara Felleca made the quail jump official through an open letter published on the Florence City Hall website. “Life takes courage. Courage to change, to step out of the comfort zone of belonging to your political community when you realize that you are always the dissonant voice of a Party in search of identity. I return to the game, without parachutes or patrons, in a new political adventure, in the house of the Third Pole, where democratic reformism supports ideas and programs, and men and women”. In the coming days, the path taken by councilor Felleca will be followed by two other great exponents of Tuscan politics. “In a maximum of ten days, the mayor of an important municipality in the region will move from the Democratic Party to Italia Viva – tells us a leader of the movement founded by Matteo Renzi – There is also an ongoing negotiation with a second councilor, in Florence. We are optimistic, but we cannot consider it closed yet”.
