Cabinet invests 100 million in new fund for weapons in Ukraine

The cabinet is investing 100m euros in a newly formed fund to finance military equipment for Ukraine. The Fund is a British initiative with the participation of Denmark and Norway.

The aim of the fund is to purchase equipment directly from the industry so that it reaches Ukraine as soon as possible and makes maximum use of available funds. Defense Minister Ollongren announced the involvement of the Netherlands after meeting with other ministers in Edinburgh, Scotland.

First deliveries next year

“This is a method of additional support to participating countries without compromising their own preparedness and operational capacities,” Ollongren and his colleague Hoekstra wrote in a letter from the Foreign Office to the House of Representatives.

The first deliveries are expected early next year. The Ukrainian government must say what is necessary. The government of the country where the manufacturer is located must guarantee the reliability of the company.
