Matteo Salvini’s Liga surpasses 10% of the votes, gaining +1.2% in 15 days. This is what reveals the most recent survey carried out by Euromedia Research for the issue of Porta Porta and published by the newspaper La Stampa. The director of the research institute, Alessandra Ghisleri, explains how the discussion on the reception of migrants penalizes the Five Star Movement and rewards Matteo Salvini’s League and Enrico Letta’s PD, which, with 17.4%, is back in second place party after the Brothers of Italy which is 28.5%.
The distance between the Democratic Party and the M5S (16.5%) is almost one percentage point (0.9%). According to Ghisleri, “every time the Congress of a political party or movement arises, there is an unequivocal interest on the part of its supporters as a result of the formation and implementation of their own consensus. Congresses, as major party manifestations, are capable of reactivating those cells – sometimes even asleep – who feel once again involved in important passages in the history of our country”, analyzes Ghisleri. That is why the Democratic Party “finds itself in an undefined position between two fires that see it under attack from both the right and the left. In the absence of shock and immediate intervention, warns the director of Euromedia, the risk is of witnessing yet another disagreement with a loss of identity in today’s disoriented electorate”.
