With 83.8%, the former Minister of the South Mara Carfagna was elected president of the Action. The decision was taken by the party’s national assembly meeting today in Naples, at the Politeama theatre. 10.6% voted against and 5.6% abstained. So announced, after the vote was closed, Matteo Richetti, outgoing president, leader of the group in the Chamber of Action-IV.
“The objective of making Action the first Italian party is very ambitious, but not impossible, it is what the country needs”, underlined Carfagna on the sidelines of Action’s National Assembly in Naples. “Populism swells, wins elections, swells and feeds on anger, fears, concerns, dissatisfactions, but then when tested by the government it shows all its weaknesses, frailties and contradictions”, says the neo-president of the National Assembly Action. “It happened with the M5S, it happened with the League, I believe that this time it will happen very soon and we must be prepared. That is why it makes sense to dedicate strength, energy, enthusiasm to the construction of a great reform center, because everything tells us that we are going for it direction, everything tells us that new times are opening up and in these new times we will be the ones to have a lot to say, it will be the policy of common sense and responsibility that will represent a valid government alternative. It seems complicated and difficult, it seems to have a mountain in front of us to climb because the percentages of consensus of the Brothers of Italy and Giorgia Meloni are still very high, but I say to you let’s climb this mountain, together with all the enthusiasm and skills we are capable of, we reach the top because then it will depend on us. In this audience, at this table, we have no equal in skills, abilities and experience. Here is the future ruling class of this country”, added the former minister of the South.
