Aboubakar Soumahoro suspends himself from the Green-Left Alliance group. At the end of a meeting, the deputy announces the decision but declares himself oblivious to the events that have arisen in recent days regarding the cooperatives managed by his wife and mother-in-law. “Aboubakar Soumahoro communicated to us the decision to suspend himself from the parliamentary group of the Left Green Alliance”. The announcement was made in a note by deputy Angelo Bonelli co-spokesperson for Europa Verde, deputy Nicola Fratoianni secretary of the Italian Left and Luana Zanella president of the AVS parliamentary group after meeting with the parliamentarian who ended up at the center of controversy after the investigation into the migrant reception cooperatives that burdened the family.
“We met Aboubakar Soumahoro – explain the parliamentarians – to discuss and explore the events that have been at the center of the news for days. We found him serene and determined. Aboubakar Soumahoro explained his point of view and announced his intention to respond point by point and on the merit of the journalistic disputes, reiterating his absolute strangeness to the events”. And yet: “We respect this choice of self-suspension which, although not due, shows the maximum respect that Aboubakar Soumahoro has for institutions and the value of the political commitment to promote the reasons for the battles in defense of the minimum that we have always shared with Aboubakar. We are confident – they conclude – from what has been reported to us, that the matter can be clarified quickly and without a shadow of doubt”.
