Pnrr Alarm. The Minister of the Environment, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, points the finger at the lack of funds that seriously threatens the implementation of interventions. According to Pichetto-Fratin, due to inflation, his ministry alone lacks 5 billion. For this reason, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan needs to be revised to adapt it to the new economic conditions. «We’re going to have to review the Pnrr with Europe because, due to inflation, my ministry alone has a weight of more than 5 billion in interventions. Either you reduce the works or we don’t fit. There is a delay in the implementation of the Pnrr, but my department is respecting all the milestones and targets. I am equipping the ministry so that it has a consultancy structure for municipalities: 80% of the implementation of the Pnrr is up to them»: said the Minister for the Environment, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, in «La Stampa».
In the interview, the central theme (and of absolute public interest) is how Italy will survive the winter with its gas reserves in storage. «The energy transition is the inversion of the hourglass that makes us have to look in the South for the gas that used to come from the North and that in the future could also put Italy in an advantageous position vis-à-vis other European countries. We haven’t turned the hourglass yet, Russia is still interested in exporting gas and we are not in a position to be self-sufficient. We’re not out of the tunnel yet, then. We will do it this winter, but the concern remains strong because from May onwards we will have to replenish stocks to cover next winter and that is a difficult task. According to the most recent data, we brought 250 million cubic meters of gas to Italy, 90 of which from Algeria, which became our main supplier, but 30 still come from Russia and the average daily intake from this country is around of 20 million. of cubic meters. Then, luckily, 25 million cubic meters arrive from Tap, a dozen from Norway and 45 of liquefied gas, which is currently saturating our regasification units».
