Regionals in Lazio and Lombardy to decide who will lead the Democratic Party

How to transform the voting in the next regionals into a party congress? The Democrats are doing it. In Lazio, they will support the presidency of Pisana Alessio D’Amato, the health councilor they would never have appointed if Carlo Calenda had not chosen him suddenly. In Lombardy they veered to the left, unexpectedly landing on Pierfrancesco Majorino, a name favored by Giuseppe Conte’s friends. What do the two candidates have in common? Anything. But they portray well the swing of Foucault’s pendulum. In Lazio, the centrist and moderate choice bends towards the Third Pole. Around the Pillone, centrifugal force pushes to the left towards the grillini. Two different candidates and so many motions. «From the voting in these two regions, it will be clear who will win the congress that will take place a week after the administrations, therefore, with the ballot boxes still “hot”», is the prediction of an authoritative exponent of the Nazarene who, however, does not want appear.

On the other hand, someone who is not afraid to expose himself is Gianfranco Zambelli, who took over in extremis from Pisana, regional councilor, after being the first of the non-elected. «I really appreciated Calenda’s political proposal, including the meeting with Meloni – Zambelli announces his departure, who still has the Democratic Party card in his pocket – I did not agree with the management of the post-election period, leaving the suspended party was madness » . Zambelli took seven thousand preferences. And the campaign of the odd couple Calenda-Renzi will not stop there. The name of Rodolfo Lena is mentioned, given in approach along with others still in the shadows. There is still no takeover bid for the Lazio Democratic Party, we are in the side effects, in the long wave after September 25th. To the awareness that in case of defeat, the center-left will be elected at most 6, that is less than half. From here and from the uncertainty that reigns the repositioning to reunite with the other “ex” Marietta Tidei and Valentina Grippa. Until a few days ago, the name of Patrizia Prestipino had been mentioned, she remained out of politics, then her adherence to Stefano Bonaccini reached social networks. But it is not excluded that many disillusioned ones will be recovered in D’Amato’s Civic List. Those who, in turn, are allergic to currents, know well that if it depended on the big names, they would never, ever, see themselves running for governor, a position already destined for the current president of the regional council, Daniele Leodori, an expression of the broad field. Not surprisingly, before the Ruberti case exploded, a poll circulated that gave him the lead in terms of approval, followed by Enrico Gasbarra and then D’Amato.

There are also movements of troops beyond the borders of the respective currents in view of the candidacy that Elly Schlein will officiate next Sunday at the Monk in Casalbertone. The rest is ordinary calm chaos. Former guru Bettini still hesitant, undecided whether to press Orlando or agree with Gualtieri (and Mancini) on the mayor of Pesaro Matteo Ricci; Nardella, who is also looking for a bank besides Arno. Then there would be Majorino who started shooting at point zero on Letizia Moratti, also a candidate for Calenda: “As a former vice president of the Region, he voted in favor of all, I mean all, the provisions of the junta that he is disputing today” . Someone warns him: in Lazio, the Third Pole is allying itself with the party that supports it in Lombardy.
