Vincenzo Spadafora returns to speak after his failed re-election in Parliament. The former minister and right-hand man of Luigi Di Maio vented in an interview with Oggi, targeting Giuseppe Conte in particular: “Of course I was disappointed. And I miss participating in government, in power, in politics, only when you’re there can you really influence things and realize their complexity. With you? We were superficial in not understanding that we were handing the 5 Star Movement into the hands of a character who would have upset it and, in doing so, would have shown no gratitude to those who brought it to 32%. I would never have thought that a person who finds himself, out of the blue, acting as Prime Minister could have an arrogant and defiant attitude towards those who made this possible, as Giuseppe did”.
Spadafora also focuses on Di Maio in the interview, whom he accompanied after the separation of M5S and the birth of Civic Commitment: “I do not deny the choice of coherence of having followed Luigi, with whom I lived all my political experience for six years.. . I owe him a lot, but I believe he also owes me a lot and that he recognizes that. Ours is an equal professional balance and a solid human relationship”. Then a look to the future: “My area of reference has always been the centre-left, and the Democratic Party is the only family you can recognize, with all its difficulties… If there was room to contribute and do things for young people with the Democratic Party, so why not? Otherwise – says Spadafora – nothing prevents you from setting something else”.
