Gasparri vents to Rai: “Apology for Lotta Continua, a movement of violence”

Maurizio Gasparri says enough is enough with Rai’s apology for a certain portion of the left. The vice-president of the Senate and exponent of Forza Italia is delighted with the transmission of “Lotta Continua”, a documentary based on the book by Aldo Cazzullo and does not hide his indignation: “The supreme leaders of Lotta Continua were sentenced very hard for the murder of Calabresi. Sofri, the boss, was considered the creator and instigator of the commissioner’s murder. However, Rai dedicates a substantially apologetic documentary to this movement that sowed violence in schools and squares throughout Italy. I remember the Lotta militants well It continues that they prevented those who did not think like them from speaking. I remember their violence, their aggressions and their prevarications. Lotta Continua saw many of its militants join the ranks of terrorism that bloodied Italy in the years of violence. Responsibility de Sofri and his companions in disturbing events in Italian life are evident and have been the subject of trials and condemnations. on the screens of Rai 3, with a well-deserved audience failure, to say at the end of this truly indefinable documentary that Lotta Continua offered ‘examples to imitate’”.

“There were – continues Gasparri about the content of the program broadcast by state TV – proud claims of those years and those facts, truly intolerable. Giampiero Mughini had the honesty to tell the truth and make appreciable statements, as did Paolo Liguori. Others were proud of their past and the story of Lotta Continua, which represents one of the darkest and most tragic pages in recent Italian history. Rai covered himself in shame with this work, which we would also like to discuss in the Oversight Commission, if only ‘the left’ did not prevent it from being created for infighting over seats. But let’s ask for it everywhere. Calling into question Rai’s president and general director, exponents of the various sectors that should produce culture and qualified documentation. On the contrary, they took responsibility for an act of apology by one of the groups that bloodied the history of Italy and whose exponents assumed responsibilities that would have deserved much more severe judgments in the courts. It certainly isn’t the public service spotlight for an apology that marks – the blue senator’s denouncement – a black page for Rai.”
