Update your Facebook page. Yes, the one called “The shadow of D’Alema” and stopped at 2021, which made fun of the great political-journalistic genre that compiled many pages about the more or less underground political plots attributable to the former president DS. Now, in fact, D’Alema’s shadow is again evoked, feared, exorcised in the tiring new course of the Democratic Party. The National Assembly, which marked the final chapter of Enrico Letta’s dem leadership and the preliminary step before congress, in fact sanctioned the return to the Article 1 family. The boatman is Roberto Speranza, still active in Parliament. But in the background stand out Pierluigi Bersani (off camera but very involved in television debates) and precisely D’Alema, who meanwhile is now dedicated to other activities, including business and consulting.
A La Stampa report published yesterday raises the hypothesis of a pact between Letta and Speranza, with a simple and simple content: you come back, but you don’t even talk about former leader Massimo. The fact is that yesterday a certain concern spread among the rumors in the Piddina area, to the point of receiving an unofficial half denial from sources in both parties. «With regard to the reconstructions of today’s press, it should be noted that in the constitution of the constituent path that led to the approval of the Manifesto of the new Pd, never between Enrico Letta and Roberto Speranza was reference made to individual personalities and even less to Massimo D’ Germany ».
A formula that doesn’t say much and which, incidentally, lends itself to a double reading: was the former prime minister’s speech not addressed because there isn’t even a need given D’Alema’s new life or because there are no foreclosures of reality? The interested party arrived last night to dispel doubts, contacted by phone by Ansa: «I really don’t know what to answer» to the question «because I’ve been retired for at least 7 years. I really don’t know how I can participate in the debate. I repeat, I am retired. He protects himself, of course. But he scores a small political victory. Because nothing more robust materializes when you return to the protagonists due to the evocations of others. Leaving aside the Dalemian mystery, however, this political “mystery” confirms the Democrat Party bullshit. Who intends to look to the future, but dramatically rediscovers himself mired in the past. And the feeling is deja vu. We go back to 2017, to the knot of the «bersaniani» and the way to make them feel at home.
This time they try with a manifest of compiled as-needed values that will change or maybe not. And instead of talking about the place of the Democratic Party in the world, about the fate of the Italian left in the face of an era in vertiginous evolution, now hearts, fears and anxieties are beating about the fate of who was Prime Minister in 1999 and Minister of Relations Foreign Affairs in 2006. And as communism also returned to fashion, an origin proudly claimed by the likely next secretary Stefano Bonaccini, the sun of the future struggles to shine. Obscured, perhaps in spite of itself, by a shadow. The usual shade.
