In Democratic Party circles, voting has already lasted a few hours, but already the first, instead of partial results, send the party into a constant nervous breakdown, while the (usual) case of inflated membership cards that risk being Throw it all in the trash for parts. After the anticipation of the first data from the circles, the area that supports Elly Schlein rejoices with a gap that seems minimal from his direct opponent, Stefano Bonaccini, while the motion that supports the governor of Emilia-Romagna warns: they are partial data and therefore misleading .
Enthusiasm from the Schlein area comes first from Genoa: «The clear advantage of Elly Schlein in the Genoa federation», says the deputy dem’s motion: «To date, the percentage achieved by the candidate is 56% with 236 votes against 37.6% of Bonaccini with 151 votes. Two more club congresses are expected in the evening to complete the day. The most important data is that of Voltri, the historic working-class neighborhood where Schlein obtained more than 90%». Instead, the governor’s motion invites calm and “respect for the militants”: “To avoid the dissemination of partial and misleading data and above all out of respect for the militants of the Democratic Party who do not deserve a sad exploitation, we inform you that at the moment in which 2,801 members were elected, of which 2,787 votes were valid, distributed as follows: for Stefano Bonaccini 1,493 votes (equivalent to 53.57%); for Elly Schlein 1,014 (36.38%;) for Gianni Cuperlo 191 (6.85 %) and for Paola De Micheli 89 (3.19%)».
A “war of numbers” that adds to that of inflated ballots in Campania on which all candidates asked for clarity because, as Senator Sandro Ruotolo underlined, it risks compromising local congresses. “Under these conditions, club congresses cannot be held”, explains the Schlein motion’s Campania coordinator. The irregular phenomenon worries Campania: in Sesso Aurunca 854 affiliations were made out of 1300 votes, while in the entire province of Caserta there are 6000, more than three times more than in 2020 (in 2021, however, everything was canceled due to irregularities) . Ruotolo therefore calls for the cancellation of all congresses: “An incredible number of memberships purchased with a single credit card, inflated memberships in municipalities where the Democratic Party gets very few votes in general elections, uncertainty in parliamentary hearings. Under these conditions the club’s congresses cannot be held”. In short, a disaster waiting to happen.
