‘In the European Parliament, amendments written by NGOs instead of MPs? Unacceptable. Jutta Paulus is a member of the Greens, rapporteur of the Itre commission on the new regulation for the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector. During the analysis of the text it was verified that the compromise amendments advanced by the Paulus office have as author of the file a certain Alessia Virone, director of governmental affairs of the environmental NGO Clean Air Task Force (CATF)». The case was raised by Silvia Sardone, MEP of the League and coordinator of the Id group in the Envi commission, rapporteur of the regulation on methane. “It is very serious – he adds – that the parliamentary negotiations are based on documents drawn up by a clearly partisan NGO, without the knowledge of the other groups and the co-rapporteur, and that have been sent by the Paulus Cabinet to everyone, maintaining the originality of the text It is embarrassing that the proposed files, written by an NGO, could drive the majority line on the text and pollute the development of the document in the Commission and later in Parliament”.
