Earthquake in Turkey, Italian family bodies found. Tajani’s support

“Unfortunately, the bodies of the Italian family of Syrian origin were found lifeless in Antioch. I express all my closeness to the family members who will not lack our support”. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani writes on Twitter. In recent days, the minister had announced that the family, made up of 6 people, three adults and three minors, with an Italian passport but of Syrian origin, was missing in Antioquia, Turkey, after the devastating earthquake last Monday. The other Italian missing in Kahramanmaras is Venetian businessman Angelo Zen.

Meanwhile, the total death toll from the earthquake is growing. The death toll from last Monday’s earthquake in Turkey and Syria is approaching 25,000, with rescuers finding fewer and fewer people alive under the rubble they dug for 5 days. In Turkey there are 20,665 confirmed victims, with more than 80,000 injured. In Syria, there are talks of 3,553 dead and more than 5,000 wounded. Turkish public TV TRT reported that rescuers had pulled a man alive from the rubble where he had been buried for 125 hours in Antakya. At least four people were pulled alive from rubble in the Syrian town of Jableh.
