In the vote count, Stefano Bonaccini is clearly ahead, but Elly Schlein conquers Naples and the historic club Bolognina. In short, the Democratic Party primary that will enact the new secretary is a duel between the two and the result has not yet been written. While waiting for the official data that will arrive in a week and the closing of the polls that in Lazio and Lombardy have been extended until February 19 for the regional elections, the latest political poll on the primaries indicates a clear decision of those interviewed: is the president of Emilia Romagna the right figure to bring the Democratic Party back to winning ways. The Intwig inquiry carried out between February 7th and 10th was published today by La Stampa and crushes the ambitions of deputy de Bonaccini. Out of the game Gianni Cuperlo and Paola De Micheli.
61% of those who say they vote in the primaries choose Bonaccini. Schlein stops at 39%. The participation estimated by the institute is 1.2 million voters, a result that would be respectable for the Democratic Party even if well below the 3.6 million that elected Walter Veltroni and the 1.6 million of Nicola Zingaretti. Bonaccini is also “the most appreciated even outside the perimeter of democratic militants”, reads in the analysis of the research. In general, according to those interviewed, the governor is the best suited to change the party’s ruling class, but above all the right man to win the elections: in this regard, 72.6% of the sample opted for Bonaccini, against 27.4% for favor of Schlein.
