Lombardy regionals, Fontana beats Majorino and triumphs in Covid centers

Success above expectations of the center-right reconfirms Attilio Fontana as governor of Lombardy with more than 55%, beating his main opponent, Pierfrancesco Majorino, candidate of the PD-M5S, by more than 20 points. However, there is no match for the candidate of the third pole, Letizia Moratti, who exceeds 9% and even less for the candidate of the Unione Popolare, Mara Ghidorzi, who is close to 1.5%. «The first feeling is the joy of the Lombards who understood our work – says the winner Fontana A victory that touches all territories and the result of a great dialogue with the components of the whole region».

For the reconfirmed president of Lombardy, the result of the League and the civic list linked to it, which reduce the disadvantage with the Brothers of Italy with regard to Politics, is “the demonstration that being rooted in the territory always manages to pay off . Both within the League and on my civic list, there have been people who have shown in the past that they know how to play the role of administrators well ». Therefore, the center-right wins and grows if we consider that in the 2018 Regionals Fontana was elected with 49.75% of the votes. An undivided centre-right, therefore, as Action hoped, which has already registered the resignation of its regional secretary from Lombardy, Niccolò Carretta, according to whom, “the result is bankruptcy and demonstrates the incomprehensibility of our choices”. Meanwhile, Majorino announces that he will leave the EU Parliament to take up the post of regional councillor, explaining that he will make his “contribution by taking a stand in the opposition”.

Even the Dem exponent admits the “clear victory of the centre-right”, but stresses that “the abstention rate is worrying, it should not be forgotten, but it should not be an alibi because we are facing an absolutely clear right-wing statement”.

It must be said that Majorino is an exponent of the PD, a brand that, after the Letta bankruptcy and after the Lombard Panzeri Euroscandals, certainly did not help him to gain consensus outside his party’s increasingly narrow base. It should be added that the Democratic Party, in recent months, has shown itself to be more dedicated to congress than to elections. Then there is the sensitive point, precisely, the abstention, the lowest ever. In fact, 41.6% of voters went to the polls in relation to those entitled to vote. Five years ago, on the other hand – only one day was voted along with the Policy – turnout was 73.1%.

A beating also for the M5S, which certainly did not bring any added value to the alliance with the Democratic Party. The latest poll results show that the Brothers of Italy confirm their position with 26.3% (last Regional 3.6%), followed by Pd 22.3%, Lega 16%. Far behind, FI 6.5%, president of the Fontana list 5.4%, president of the Moratti list 5.2%, M5S 4.3%, Azione -Italia Viva 4.3%, president of the Majorino list 4.1% , Alleanzaverdi and left 3.1%, Popular Union 1.3%, We Moderates – Renaissance 1.2%. The Numeriche draw a new political scenario, especially in the centre-right, where there are those who speak of the “centre-right”, to quote the exponent of the FdI, Daniela Santanchè. Not only that, the Minister of Tourism herself is also convinced that Meloni’s party is responsible for the vice-presidency of the Region and “at least eight or nine” councillors. From the allies, at this moment, a “let’s evaluate with firm glasses” arises.
