Elections in Lombardy, Brothers of Italy the party with the most seats (22) in the Council

In the new Regional Council of Lombardy, Fratelli d’Italia will be the party with the most seats: 22. This is the first number to come out of the graph prepared by “YouTrend” with closed polls. The Democratic Party follows with 17 and the League with 14. Letizia Moratti will not be part of the Regional Council, having been in third place and not being a candidate on the district lists.

There are 34 outgoing Regional Councilors reconfirmed in the XII legislature, in the face of a significant renewal that sees 46 new faces arrive at the Pirellone benches. Among those elected, the oldest is Vittorio Feltri, who will turn 80 next June, elected in Milan among the Brothers of Italy and who will preside over the first session of the new legislature. The youngest is still an expression of the Brothers of Italy: Michele Schiavi, mayor of Onore in Valle Seriana (BG), who will turn 24 next February 24th. The average age of those elected is just over 48 years old. The most voted is the Mayor of Brescia Emilio Del Bono who wins 35,761 preferences in the constituency of Brescia of the Democratic Party: for the majority, the record holder of preferences is the President of the Regional Council Alessandro Fermi who in Como na Lega participates 13,883 preferences. The ‘least voted’ is Jacopo Dozio who wins a place in Pirellone in the list ‘Lombardia Ideal – Fontana Presidente’ in the district of Monza and Brianza with only 93 votes.

As many as 14 councilors were not re-elected from the ranks of the League: Francesco Ghiroldi, Simone Giudici, Curzio Trezzani, Alex Galizzi, Federica Epis, Francesca Ceruti, Monica Mazzoleni, Debora Giovanati, Selene Pravettoni, Andrea Monti, Francesca Brianza, Gigliola Spelzini, Pietro Foroni and Fabrizio Turba (also noteworthy the non-election of Stefano Bruno Galli and Raffaele Cattaneo, outgoing directors). At Forza Italia, Giulio Gallera, Fabio Altitonante, Paola Romeo, Claudia Carzeri and Gabriele Barucco remain out. Nothing to do with Alan Rizzi either, who moved from Forza Italia to Lega a few weeks before the vote. Simone Verni, Gregorio Mammì, Raffaele Erba, Roberto Cenci and Marco Fumagalli did not return to Movement 5 Stelle’s Pirellone. Not elected in the Action – Italy list Viva Gianmarco Senna, Elisabetta Strada and Niccolò Carretta. Finally, the failed re-election of Michele Usuelli in Majorino’s Civic Pact and Mônica Forte in Moratti’s Presidential List. With the exception of the ‘Unione Popolare’ list linked to presidential candidate Mara Ghidorzi, all the other 11 lists that participated in the electoral competition elected at least one representative. Just over a quarter are elected women (22 out of 80): 13 in the majority line, 9 in the minority. The Democratic Party is the list that obtained the most votes in the district of Milan and its province: in Como and Sondrio the Lega stood out, in all other remaining provincial districts Fratelli d’Italia is the first party.

“Certainly the great solidity and cohesion of this center right which has demonstrated that, when united, nothing can stop it” declared the reconfirmed president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, on the Tgr Lombardia, answering the question about what is the political data that emerge from the regional elections: “In the last five years we have always governed with absolutely no party that had the highest number of votes that prevailed over the others”.
