The House of Representatives has ordered the Council of Ministers to contact Denmark about establishing refugee centers outside the European Union. For example, Denmark wants to make a deal with Rwanda to accept asylum seekers for payment. For this, partner countries are looking for.
Opposition parties PVV, FvD, SGP, BBB, Groep Van Haga, Omtzigt and the majority of JA21 (applicants) and the ruling parties VVD and CDA see “promising possibilities” in resolving the asylum crisis. Not only the admission but also the procedure takes place outside the EU.
The Danish parliament passed the law in 2021, which, with its deterrent effect, reduced the number of asylum applications. “If you apply for asylum in Denmark, you know you will be deported to a country outside of Europe,” a spokesperson for the ruling Social Democratic party said. Therefore, we hope that people will stop seeking asylum in Denmark.”
European Court of Human Rights
The UK has the same plan and has already reached broad agreements with Rwanda. The first flight with illegally entered refugees was supposed to begin in June last year. The European Court of Human Rights, which upset the British government, decided that this was not allowed. No new flights are planned yet.
VVD Secretary of State for Asylum Affairs Van der Burg had previously said in a discussion that the Netherlands would adhere to international agreements and treaties with possible Danish cooperation.
