An analysis of the fate of Action and Italia Viva. Researcher Nicola Piepoli assesses the current and future space of the Third Pole and responds to Adnkronos about the opportunity to insert the word ‘Moratti’ in the logo instead of ‘Calenda’ for the regional elections in Lombardy: “The Third Pole is dying, it gasped loudly. And it’s a shame because the Third Pole has a huge electoral space, it could have the country in its hands. For example, if he had considered the pacifist issue, he would have won four times as many votes as he had”.
With a view to strengthening the Third Pole, should the single party be formed immediately or in view of the European elections, as proposed by Renzi? Piepoli answers the question: “I don’t want to say that the leader of Italia Viva is always right, because he too, like in the referendum, made his mistakes. But the regional beating needs to heal and therefore needs time. Renzi and Carlo Calenda are young and have free time. Same space? The space of Forza Italia can gravitate towards the center – says the researcher -. To conquer the FI voter pool, the Third Pole must therefore ally with Silvio Berlusconi or wait…. Because everything passes. Watchful waiting is better now as Renzi is doing now, who is not lacking in intelligence. The IV leader knows how to win elections. He could give a lot to the country by teaming up with the right people. And in the European Championship the situation could be reversed, in favor of Renzi”.
