Companies that use a lot of energy for their production, the so-called energy-intensive small and medium-sized enterprises, will be able to apply to the government for energy cost subsidies from March 21. These include, for example, plant growers, ovens and saunas.
Various conditions were determined. For example, energy costs must make up at least 7 percent of sales. In addition, considering the number of employees and turnover, it should be a medium-sized company.
The compensation amounts to 50 percent of the increase in energy costs above a fixed so-called threshold price. The maximum refund amount is 160,000 Euros. The regulation also applies to some foundations and associations.
The plan was delayed as the government wanted to target aid only to a specific group of entrepreneurs and then had to seek EU approval for such state aid.
