In the middle of the week that sanctions an important change in the political balance of the opposition, the 5 Star Movement gathers its National Council in the headquarters of Campo Marzio.
There are many topics on the table of the pentastellato conclave: from the relaunch of the movement’s historical political themes, to the perspectives of future alliances of the party. Giuseppe Conte’s attention is focused on them in particular. The M5s leader wants to understand how, and to what extent, a rapprochement with the Democratic Party is possible after the election of the new secretary, Elly Schlein.
“We welcome the news that occurred in the house of the PD and we hope that it will really have a profound effect on the structural reorganization of the dem – said Conte -. I will confront Schlein.” Now in Campo Marzio they await the turn of the Pd “to the proof of the facts”. We hope to be able to dialogue with the new summit, we are convinced of that, and to be able to measure ourselves against concrete objectives”.
After all, there is no shortage of meeting opportunities. The first could already be on Saturday in Florence, where Giuseppe Conte and Elly Schlein will meet side by side in the demonstration organized by the unions after the attack that took place in front of the Michelangiolo school by an extreme right group. One of the first points of contact may be the minimum wage, which “Elly Schlein declared to be a priority objective for the Democratic Party as well” and “like Calenda”, he highlighted.
The former prime minister also spoke of the Bergamo investigation: “There was no manual. and commitment”.
Finally, the Movement’s will to give new life to an increasingly distant and dissatisfied electorate with politics emerged from the National Council. The recipe for doing so, according to the pentastellati, cannot be dissociated from the valuation of territories “with the creation of digital platforms – they say – that function as a forum for collective discussion of projects”. All this to “encourage citizen participation” as an “antidote against political disaffection and abstentionism”. In summary, the National Council “was a moment of discussion in which we focused on territorial organization. We are going to work with the territorial coordinators, with the territorial groups, to be more present in the territory”.
